I’ve always loved New Year's Eve. I’m a native New Yorker, so I had my choice of a myriad of show choices in my formative years. And the New Years phenomena wasn’t just limited to NYE itself, it was a whole concert season that revolved around December/January that just made me feel so alive.
Spending NYE shows at venues like The House of Blues (Atlantic City), Madison Square Garden (NYC), Radio City Music Hall (NYC), The Tabernacle (Atlanta, GA) and The Fillmore (Denver, CO) always got me excited for what was to come.
Music on New Years is like a fresh snow for the soul.
But NYE in Colorado Springs isn’t like that. Sadly. I’ve found myself traveling other cities and states, going to Denver, watching webcasts at home, but not at a genuine concert in my own hometown.
So, JEP has decided that it’s time to do something different. It’s time to make New Years in Colorado Springs a serious party and one that makes us excited for what’s to come.
We deserve this, and if you’re anything like me, you need this too.
So, on December 31st, 2018, we’ll be at the historic Antlers Hotel in Downtown Colorado Springs for a full night of music featuring Josh Gracin (American Idol, Season 2) and Craig Wayne Boyd (Winner, The Voice, Season 7).
We will also be joined by a trio of incredibly talented Colorado based bands: Tejon Street Corner Thieves, The Back Pages and Mark’s Midnight Carnival Show. We’ve done multiple shows with all three bands and not only are they amazingly talented, but they love to entertain and play for crowds. The more of you there are that show early to see them, the better they’ll perform.
The bigger issue is this: we, as a city need to have a NYE tradition. We need live music on NYE and I’m tired of feeling like the right thing to do is travel to a different city to see a show or watch the ball drop on TV because there’s no big event in our home town.
So, Colorado Springs, are you coming to this party with us?
